Woohoo.. udah mau habis aja nih kalender 2024 wkwkw..
Today, I’m gonna recap and share with you how good I am encountering this year 😏😎, hell yeah! Without wasting any time, let's jump right in.
Disclaimer: This blog post is writen in order to help the author to be mindful in the journey of self development. Any places and names mentioned in this story might be disguised to protect their privacy.
First thing first, in this story I'm gonna divide my recap into 4 sections, career development, skill improvement, hobbies, social and love life. The last part will be the hardest part since I put a lot of effort on it 😮💨🫵
Career Development
I admit that this is one of the best job I've ever had in my life, wouldn’t take it for granted. I'll give you a picture, I work for an international consulting firm and team up with amazing people from across different country through a technology-first approach, software and the internet for sure, this kinda previllage set up allow me to do what I’m passionate about everywhere I want. But I'm not gonna tease you with delightful story because there were also a lot of obsactles and challenges while we are working remotely without ever see and meet physically in real life. It's been 2 years since I work in this consultant firm, I often faced with multiple projects at one time, meaning at one day I could attend 2-4 online meetings for different project, different clients and sometimes it can lead to overwhealming and burn out, but luckly.. we made it 🥴💪
This year has been truly amazing for me as I’ve had the chance to handle several projects in industries I’m genuinely passionate about. Honestly, these are the industries and issues that really spark my interest:
-
Artificial Intellegent - AI Testing Tools
-
Climate Change Issue - ESG (Economic, Social, Governance) Reporting
-
Finance/Banking - Corporate Financing Application with AI
Those are my work highlights for this year, I feel quite fullfill with what I've accomplished this year so far, even tho there are still some issues to tacle and some problems to solve, but I belive that it is also meaning some space for improvement and grow! #confidencetogrow
Skill Improvement
If I accomplish less today than I did yesterday, then I know I’ve messed up!
That's the mindset. What is the idea of improvement if you can't even make yourself better than yesterday, right? I do belive with the philoshophycal of compound growth, meaning that if we can consistently gain something every single day, even it just a small thing whether it's knowledge, information, new skill, or even single penny), I believe that it will eventually lead to abundance in the long run, do you agree?
That's why I’m deeply invested in self-development, therefore I do what ever it takes to make today's myself version is better than yesterday, by educating myself, improving my workflow, learning life-skill, keeping myself up to date with recent news, saving some bucks, or even enjoying my hobbies and leveling up my skills, so I could maintain my sanity lol 🤪
In order to make my work-life balance in the appropriate way, then I need to manage my time wisely by commiting with my work hour 8 hours/day (except if there is a notification for adhoc meeting or overtime prior the end of the office hour then I have no option but to do the extra work). Otherwise, I will let my phone's plane mode on and immerse myself in the me-time realm.
As I mentioned before, I prioritize self-development in order to unleash all of my potentials and I recognize that there are not just about work that can contribute to my journey. I usually turn off my phone after office hour, hence I could be more focus with life and hobbies such as allocate some time to read physical book (30min-2hour/day) or consume any interesting content on quora (1-2 hours/day), or just as simple as have a casual conversation with foreigners to improve my english skill.
Anyway, since I found out that my screen time on quora is extreamely high, I used to "install-uninstall-repeat" it 🤧🤏. For now on I will only install it once I finished or paused my physical book 🤭. I hate it when I found myself to much engaged on specific app, that's why I quit social media because most of the time it consumes a lot of my time.
Talking about book, this year I quite lucky enough to be able to unpack few amazing books. I'm very selective when it comes to read phisical book since it takes a fully commitment to finish it 😵💫🤧 so I have to find any reviews and consider the rating before I decided to buy and read it. Here are some books that I've finished this year:
-
How to Die - Seneca
-
Lagom - Linnea Dunne
-
48 Laws of Power - Robert Greene
Think Again - Adam Grant
The other part of skill improvement that I proudly to highlight is finishing my couses regarding Design and Innovation. I dedicate a lot of time and effort to pay attention to the courses and commited to finish it all the modules. By the end of this year, I successfully completed 4 courses and certificates relate with my expertise on UI/UX Design and Digital Product Management, those are:
-
UI/UX Design Professional Certificate authorized by Google
-
Innovation Through Design authorized by The University of Sydney
-
Digital Product Management authorized by University of Virginia Darden School of Business
-
Generative AI for Project Managers authorized by IBM
Besides of those activities, I usually allocate my time to improve my english skill on an online language exchange platform. I used to meet students and trainers from across the globe like US, Netherlands, Phillipines, and also met my ex here, we're gonna talk about it later in the part 2 🤧❤️🩹. See you there, bye! 🤸♂️
